How to Change the Default Search Engine in the Browser on Android

defaultsearch-teaserWhile most of the web browsers that we see in the market use Google as the default search engine, sometimes you might just want to stop using Google and switch to an alternative. In those cases, using search engines like Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and Wolfram Alpha might prove to be more useful to you than Google. In Android, you can easily change the default search engine in your browser.

1. Launch the Firefox browser from your App Drawer.

2. Press the Menu key on your device and a menu will pop up. Tap on “Settings,” as that is where you can change the settings for your browser.

Conclusion

The above trick will help you switch your default search engine from Google to alternatives like Yahoo and Bing. Unfortunately, the list of search engines is pretty limited (only Yahoo and Bing) and you are not given the option to add your own search engine. For those of you who prefer a search engine that is not in the list (like DuckDuckGo), you can either install their app or simply set the search engine URL as your homepage.
