It causes you to decrease your health daily without even realizing it. If you want to enhance your health, you need to recognize these mistakes and eliminate them from your routine. This will help you ensure a better quality of health and life.

Keep reading to discover 6 health mistakes that can take a toll on your health and wellbeing.

1. Using Q-tips

When you use cotton swabs to clean an ear wax, you can harm your ear. Ear wax protects your ears against infection, catches dirt, and keeps ears dry. Cotton swabs can push wax further inside the ear. This can lead to skin injury, increasing your risk of an ear infection or eardrum trauma

To prevent ear damage, you need to clean your ears from the outside with a wet cloth. Don’t push anything in your ears canals. If you have an earwax blockage, contact your doctor to eliminate it.

2. Micromanaging the diet

Agonizing about each food, carb, and calorie you consume isn’t the right approach to a diet. This can bring anxiety, guilt, and shame. By stressing about foods you eat too much, you can worsen your health significantly. This can contribute to both physical and mental problems like eating disorders. Eating disorders can make it harder for you to achieve your wellness goals.

It is good for your health to be mindful of the foods you eat. But don’t turn food in the sense of your life. You need to make decisions based on self-care instead of scarcity.

3. Breathing through the nose

When you breathe through your nose, it warms and humidifies the air that penetrates your lungs. The cilia in your nose filters toxins from the air. This decreases the risk of catching a viral infection. When breathing through the mouth, unfiltered and cold air enters your lung directly.

Mouth-breathers are more likely to develop dental conditions like cavities and gum disease. Mouth breathing can contribute to a condition called dry mouth. Lack of saliva in the mouth creates a perfect environment for cavity-causing bacteria breeding. If you notice signs of gum disease or tooth decay, you need to visit the dentist ASAP. If left untreated, these conditions can cause serious dental complications.

4. Being a secondary smoker

Passive smoking causes numerous health problems. It increases your risk of severe asthma attacks and respiratory infections. Secondhand smoking makes you more susceptible to coronary heart disease, stroke, and lung cancer. This increases your risk of developing heart disease by 25–30%.

Secondhand smoke is extremely dangerous to children. It increases the risk of sudden infant death syndrome. This is the sudden, unexplained death of an infant in the first year of life. Older children who are exposed to secondhand smoke regularly, are more likely to develop bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma, and ear infections.

5. Having a dirty car

There are more than 700 strains of bacteria living in the interior of your car. They can be everywhere in your car, including the steering wheel. The average steering wheel has about 629 bacteria per square centimeter. This is four times more than on a public toilet seat. By touching your wheel, you collect all these bacteria on your hands. When touching your face with dirty hands, you run the risk of getting sick

It is important to clean and disinfect your car regularly. Use an antibacterial cleaner to clean the steering wheel, dash, and control buttons.

6. Not cleaning your workplace

Your office is a place where you spend most of your day. Your workplace needs to be as clean as your home. All the surfaces in your office can be a base for bacteria breeding. The dirtiest areas at your workplace include keyboards, phones, desks, and break-room surfaces. These are perfect ground for bacteria breeding. If you don’t sanitize them, germs can easily spread over the whole office.

It is crucial to avoid these mistakes and make healthy choices. You need to make your health a priority. By being mindful of your health, you can decrease your risk of most unpleasant health conditions.
